Keith graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He played football at UCLA and subsequently played for the Washington Redskins professional football team in 1977. In 1978, he coached at UCLA and in 1979 played for the New York Giants.
His football career abruptly ended in 1980 when he suffered a heart attack on an airplane en route to a pre-season training camp for the Giants. Shortly thereafter, Keith entered the financial services industry working for a pension firm, where his responsibilities included the design and implementation of retirement plans for business owners throughout California. During his tenure Keith developed a passion for assisting business owners with achieving their succession goals. In 1990 Keith founded Keith Eck Financial & Insurance Services to pursue this passion. In 2012 Keith became a member of Business Enterprise Institute's International Network of Exit Planning Advisors. BEI trains and supports business advisors to be the preeminent Exit Planning resource for business owners in their communities. Our members ultimately seek to help business owners and their families benefit from their lives.
Active in his community, Keith was a past member of the Board of Directors for the San Diego Make-A-Wish Foundation and has been a volunteer for over 20 years, a co-founder of the Scripps Hospital STAR Program (Stroke Treatment and Recovery) and former branch board president and as well as a former executive board member of the San Dieguito Boys and Girls Club.
